This page includes information about the migration tool to transfer the Table Grid Editor custom field data into the Table Grid Next Generation.
Introduction to the Table Grid Migration
Table Grid Migration Tool is a separate Jira Server application which helps you to migrate grid data from the Table Grid Editor custom field to the Table Grid Next Generation.
It's a simple tool with an easy and intuitive interface. Select the Table Grid Editor custom field you want to migrate. Then validate the grid data and a new Table Grid Next Generation custom field will be created. The new Table Grid Next Generation custom field will include data from the Table Grid Editor custom field. The app is free to install and use.
Limitations
As far as the Table Grid Next Generation is not yet feature-complete the migration process is limited to the supported features only. of limitations
- Formulas won't be migrated

- Multi Cascading Select custom field
- Table Grid Reader custom field

How to migrate data from TGE to TGNG
Pre-requisites
- Table Grid Next Generation app updated to the latest version
- Table Grid Editor app updated to the latest version
- Table Grid Migration Tool app installed
1. Navigate to the Table Grid Migration block in your Jira administration
2. Select TGE field
2. Validate data
Validation is a required step in the migration process. It helps to understand what would be the result of the migration process.
In case the grid has not supported data you will get warning notifications. For example, in case the Table Grid Editor custom field has a formula column you will get the notification as showed below.
2. Run migration
The migration tool creates a new TGNG custom field with the same data as TGE custom field.
You will get a notification once the migration is finished.
