This page explains how to configure custom dimensions for String data in a Data Source
To configure custom dimensions for String data, please follow these steps:
Open Data Source tab and select Jira Source
Click “Select Dimensions” button
Scroll down and click the “Create Your First Custom Dimension” button
Enter a Dimension Name, then select a source field with the String data type.
Click to turn on the “Enable grouping” toggle
After enabling grouping, you can group data in one of the following ways:
Option 1: Group by Empty / Not Empty
All values are automatically grouped into Empty and Not Empty categories.
Sample data showing how values are grouped is displayed in the Data Preview.
Option 2: Group by Pattern (Regex)
Group values by matching them against regular expression patterns.
Refer to JavaScript regular expressions here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Guide/Regular_expressions
Enter a JavaScript regex pattern and press Enter to create a category. Click the “Add Category” button to add more category.
You can enter a value and press Enter to test against regex patterns. The matching category will show in the Data Preview.
If a value matches multiple patterns, it will be placed in the first matching category in the list order.
Click the “Save Dimension” button to save the Custom Dimension
Result: The custom dimension is created successfully.
