How to configure a Grid Custom Field to display on Work item Screen

The process for adding a custom field differs between Company-managed spaces and Team-managed spaces. Follow the steps below to add a Grid Custom Field to the appropriate space.

For Company-managed Space

Open Fields page in your Jira admin settings Click Actions button of the Grid Custom Field and select Add field to screen

Open Space settings of your space Select Layout tab Click Edit work item layout to start editing the work item layout You will see the Grid Custom Field you have added to the screen of the Space here Click to select the Grid Custom Field, drag and drop it to your desired position in this Work item layout Click the Save changes button to successfully apply the layout updates

For Team-managed Space

Click the 3-dot button of your Space and open Space settings

Select Fields tab Search for your Grid Custom Field by entering its name, select its checkbox Click Add field to add the Grid Custom Field to your space.

Click the Work types tab to expand all work types in your space Select the work type where you want to add the Grid Custom Field You will now see the Grid Custom Field you’ve added in the Fields list on the right-hand side. Click to select the Grid Custom Field, move to drag and drop it to your desired position in this Work item screen

Use Grid Custom Field in Create Work Item Screen

Click the Create button to create a new work item Click the 3-dot button and select Configure fields option

Click the + button to add a new row and enter grid data, then click Create button to create the work item.

A Grid Custom Field with the Grid View Field type cannot be added to the Create work item screen, in accordance with Jira Cloud rules for read-only fields: https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/manifest-reference/modules/jira-custom-field-type/#read-only-fields.
